Nutrition targeted at young competition horses, broodmares and foals. Contains a carefully researched combination of main minerals (calcium, phosphorus and magnesium), Key trace elements (Copper, Zinc, Manganese and Silicon), Vitamins D and K, collagen and amino acids, to promote proper bone growth and development.
- Provides key minerals, vitamins D3 and K, collagen and amino acids for broodmares and foals to support optimal skeletal development.
- Contains bioavailable mineral sources, including sustainable seaweed, collagen, and high-quality protein, which provide key amino acids.
- MSM to support horses' natural anti-inflammatory processes, as well as providing a bioavailable source of sulfur to support hoof growth.
- Provides targeted nutrition for broodmares and foals, as well as young racehorses entering training and young high-performance horses competing in age categories, to support continued skeletal maturation and maintenance of bone density.
- It is also suitable for horses on long-term stable rest, where bone demineralization can occur due to the enforced lack of load-bearing activity.

Product description
Better Bones Pellets is a carefully researched combination of key minerals, vitamin D3, vitamin K, collagen, and amino acids, to support proper bone growth and development in young, growing horses, including young racehorses and performance horses beginning training, as well as broodmares.
Skeletal development and health of a young horse begins in utero, and ensuring the mare receives the correct intake of key nutrients will be critical for the growth of the unborn foal. Producing high-quality milk requires a significant loss from the mare's nutrient stores, and maintaining mineral intake during peak lactation is vital to ensuring the foal receives the best nutrition to support rapid skeletal development in the first weeks and months of growth.
Mineral and other nutrient imbalances in young, growing animals have been recognized for some time as a potential factor in the incidence and severity of developmental skeletal abnormalities. Although genetics and environmental factors may also play a role, breeders and trainers can exercise a significant degree of control over the nutrition of the horses in their care, ensuring they receive optimal levels of key nutrients.
Young competitive horses, such as racehorses or show jumping, dressage, or eventing foals participating in age-restricted classes, are expected to train and compete, or compete where significant stresses are placed on immature bones and joints. While many factors can lead to skeletal problems in young performance horses, ensuring the correct nutrients are provided to help maximize bone density will help ensure optimal bone strength and may reduce the incidence and severity of bone injuries.
Better Bones can also be given to horses on long-term stall rest, where enforced inactivity can lead to bone demineralization, making the horse more vulnerable to further injury when work resumes.
What are the benefits of Better Bones Pellets?
Calcium is one of the most important minerals in bones, accounting for nearly 35% of equine bone. It also plays a key role in muscle and nerve function. Calcium is obtained from a combination of organic and inorganic sources to ensure optimal bioavailability, including seaweed, calcium gluconate, dicalcium phosphate, and alfalfa.
Phosphorus accounts for about 15% of bone and also plays a key role in energy and fat metabolism.
Magnesium - Approximately 60% of the magnesium in a horse's body is found in the skeleton (and about 30% in the muscles). Magnesium comes from seaweed.
Vitamin D3 - plays a key role in proper calcium metabolism
Vitamin K - Plays an important role in a number of physiological processes, including bone metabolism, energy production, and immune function.
MSM - supports horses' natural anti-inflammatory processes and provides a bioavailable source of sulfur to support hoof growth.
Collagen and Amino Acids – Collagen is a protein, and along with other key amino acids, it provides a framework for calcium, phosphorus, and other minerals to add strength and stiffen the structure or skeleton. This combination of collagen and minerals makes bones strong and flexible enough to withstand the stress of normal physical exertion. Collagen also supports the health of soft tissues (tendons and ligaments).
Copper, zinc, manganese, and silicon are key trace elements, provided from a combination of organic and inorganic sources to help ensure optimal bioavailability, and all play a key role in bone growth and development.
