It is recommended to follow the following steps to make proper use of the blade:
-Wash and dry your horse before clipping. If your horse's hair is very dirty or matted, it can damage the blades.
To begin, turn on the clipper and use the blades against the growth of the horse's hair. Make sure to keep the blades flat against the horse and use long, even strokes. You can overlap the strokes for a clean, even finish.
It's best to start at the shoulder, as this can be helpful for horses that are new to clipping or unfamiliar with clipping. Once they're comfortable with the clipper, it's advisable to move on to the face before the clippers begin to warm up.
-The clipper should be lubricated periodically. When the upper and lower blades rub together to cut hair, they produce heat. Therefore, applying a cooling spray every few minutes will prevent them from overheating.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance is essential to extend the lifespan of your blades. It is recommended to follow these guidelines for proper blade maintenance:
-Cleaning the blades. Immerse the blades, only while the clipper is running, in a shallow container with clipper oil or blade cleaner. After cleaning, turn off the clipper and dry the blades with a clean cloth.
-Blade sets should be oiled at least once a day and/or before each brushing.
-Lube the blades. Place a few drops of blade lubricant on the front and sides of the cutting blades. Wipe excess fluid off the blades with a cloth.
-If the blades aren't cutting, some hair may be trapped between the upper and lower blades. Remove the blade from the clipper and slide the upper blade to the side without loosening the tension spring or completely removing the upper blade from under the tension spring.
-Wipe the surfaces with a dry cloth, then place a drop of clipper oil, such as Artero Spray Oil, where the upper and lower blades meet and also in the tension spring guide slot.
